Description: Located on the ground floor of the iconic Trump Building at 40 Wall, this 20,000 square feet restaurant was designed and constructed to support its high end culinary operations. Our firm was engaged to deliver a comprehensive full MEP design set for this space. The mechanical system was designed using a water source heat pump system with VRF technology to reach higher efficiency over conventional HVAC systems. A type 1 and type 2 commercial kitchen exhaust system, fully code compliant, was designed for the grease producing cooking equipment and commercial dishwashing equipment. The type 1 hood system was designed with an indoor precipitator to eliminate odors and smoke. A kitchen exhaust and makeup air system were precisely sized to maintain required code compliant airflow rates, efficiently eliminating kitchen cooking heat, smoke and other byproducts. A heat exchanger system was designed to isolate condenser water from the building side to the tenant side to prevent cross contamination. All required expansion tanks and pumps were sized and engineered for peak performance and reliability. Existing sprinkler system was modified to accommodate the new layout, adhering to all current regulations to design a fully compliant and functioning system. Plumbing system was designed for all new fixtures including the commercial kitchen area. Grease interceptors were sized and specified to meet stringent health, safety and regulatory requirements. All new electrical equipment was circuited to new panels sized and selected to deliver the required power for all the loads. Electrical load calculations were performed to determine the adequacy of the existing distribution system. Modifications were implemented as necessary to accommodate the restaurant’s substantial power demands.
